In this blog, we dive into the Voyager 8+ and review what makes it smart.<\/p>\n

Modularity for mission flexibility<\/b><\/p>\n

The Voyager 8+ is designed for mission flexibility. With it, you can build a holistic system with multiple computing, network and connectivity modules, including cellular and radio. A further advantage of the Voyager 8+ is that it can be either 19\u201d rack-mounted or hosted in a transit case to support rapid deployment of roll on \/ roll off IT operations.<\/p>\n

A smarter edge chassis<\/b><\/h2>\n

 <\/p>\n

For a chassis to be smart, it must support computing and connectivity capabilities to communicate chassis performance insights. The Voyager 8+ is the only chassis that integrates a rugged CPU running Klas OpenBMC, for the secure management and transmission of chassis insights.<\/p>\n

Klas OpenBMC enables secure remote communication with the Voyager 8+ chassis, providing necessary insights into the power source and draw, operational power load, and battery state. Furthermore, Klas OpenBMC, allows users to deploy an OS and applications for monitoring and managing the chassis and associated Voyager modules.<\/p>\n

Power three ways<\/b><\/h2>\n

 <\/p>\n

The Voyager 8+ overcomes the power type and supply uncertainty by integrating AC and DC power inputs. When it comes to poor power sources, the chassis can support varying inputs e.g. 21-34 VDC or 90-264 VAC. In addition, it has dual power outputs to supply power to external peripherals such as monitors.<\/p>\n

Furthermore, the Voyager 8+ has three battery compartments to support BB-2590 batteries. The result is that the modules in the Voyager chassis will remain powered on when there is a loss of AC or DC power input.<\/p>\n
